Cal Forsyth, Director of Ephe, combines over 10 years of Industrial Design experience with a practical focus on improving the thermal performance of existing homes through cost-effective retrofit solutions. Driven by firsthand experience in the field, Slot Seals was developed to address common installation and efficiency challenges found in Australian housing.
Our story
What began as a practical idea developed into a five-year process of refining, testing, redesigning, and trialling Slot Seals in real installation environments. Working closely with professional installers and tradespeople, every detail was evaluated for speed, durability, ease of use, and long-term performance.
From prototype concepts through to final production, the goal was always the same — create a sealing system that professionals could trust and genuinely enjoy using.
Our values
Education is at the core of what we do. Our priority is helping householders understand the value of improving a home’s thermal performance before investing in high-cost upgrades that may deliver limited real-world benefit.
Through conducting more than 1,000 Home Energy Assessments, we have developed a practical, evidence-based understanding of the factors that genuinely influence thermal performance, occupant comfort, and energy efficiency. This experience has shaped our approach to delivering solutions that are both effective and cost-conscious for existing homes.
